Professionals Australia welcomes the Fair Work Commission’s decision to give more than 2.6 million workers a pay rise.
Employees on the national minimum wage will receive an 8.6% pay increase, while workers covered by modern awards will receive a 5.75% pay increase.
If you are a pharmacist, architect, scientist, pharmacy technician, game, tech, or IT worker paid under a modern award, you will receive this increase from 1 July 2023.
All union members should be proud of this pay rise. It’s the largest increase in minimum and Award wages in Australia’s history!
The union movement fought hard for this increase in the face of opposition from the business lobby, who wanted to drive wages down.
This increase will apply to around one in four employees. Now we must ensure that all workers have job security and fair pay. To make that happen, here are two things you can do right now:
